This museum contains over 5,000 artifacts from the sports world.  Among those items are artifacts from famous named sports figures such as Jesse Owens, Hank Aaron, Joe Louis, Willie Mays, and Carl Lewis.

If someone was born in the state of Alabama they are eligible to submit an application to be entered into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Museum.  They must have brought fame and glory to the state through their athletic activities.

If you know someone that you feel is missing from the museum you can submit an application on their behalf.  They must be retired from their sport for over 1 year or be over the age of 40 if they are still participating in their sport.  Often there are people that "should" be listed but have never been nominated.

The museum is also a wonderful field trip for youth where they are shown a video, spoken to by an Olympic medalist and participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the museum.
