The Center is seated on 25 acres of scenic land amid rolling hills and green forests. Visitors can also check out the state of the art audiovisual theater, where they can see many of the wonderful aspects of the Alabama wilderness. The conference center on the property is where many people go on the weekends to see some of the programs put on by the staff.
Another site, which is very popular, is the viewing station, where people can get a close look at the nearby wetlands and see the different types of creatures that live there.
Most people who come to the Center are there for the hiking trails. Several trails of varying lengths are on the grounds, providing people with plenty of hiking through different types of habitats.
The Wehle Nature Center is a great place to spend the day whether you are vacationing in Alabama or you have lived there your whole life. The family will have a wonderful time exploring the area, and you can even have a picnic on the grounds.
The Wehle Nature Center is open from 10AM to 4PM on Saturdays, when the public is free to come and walk along the beautiful, scenic trails. They can also participate in the programs, which rotate on a regular basis. The programs, which are usually between one and two hours long, begin at 10:30AM exactly, so make sure you are there on time if you plan to attend. Admission to the trails and the programs is free.
For groups of 15 or more people, the Center is open by appointment through the week.
